Mariner Sands Gives Back to the Community

Mariner Sands Gives Back to the Community

The Club will host a week of events to raise funds for local charities

Giving back to the community has always been a fundamental value at Mariner Sands Country Club. It is so important that the club founded their own 501(c)(3) organization known as Charity Week. Since its inception more than 30 years ago, Charity Week has been an integral part of the community. The annual event offers a full week of exciting fundraising events in which residents can have fun while taking the time to make a difference in someone’s life.

Charity Week 2019 kicks off March 4 and offers an array of matches and tournaments in activities such as golf, tennis, bocce, croquet, and cards. The week culminates with a spectacular helicopter ball-drop competition on the 18th fairway and an entertaining closing dinner that sells out year after year.

Mariner Sands residents take pride in their donations to the Charity Week fund, and are acutely aware that there are people in their community in need of the very basics in life such as food, clothing, shelter and education. The organization’s impact has been great. Last year’s Charity Week awarded $350,000 in grants to Martin County charitable organizations.

Charity Week reflects the generous and giving spirit of the Mariner Sands community. Club members have many opportunities to volunteer and give financially to basic needs charities. This year’s nonprofits include: Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County; House of Hope; KinDoo Family Center; The Library Foundation of Martin County; Hibiscus Children’s Center; Love and Hope in Action; and Caring Children Clothing Children.

2018 Charity Week Board President Jeff Black said, “Over the last six years Mariner Sands has granted over $2 million to local basic needs charities! One little community with 771 doors and an 80 percent participation rate. That, my friends, is what great Americans do – they take care of their own, and that’s a newsworthy story!”
