With plans in place and the contractor chosen, Mariner Sands Country
Club members and staff gathered on July 13, 2017 to officially
break ground on an extensive renovation
project at the upscale club in south Stuart.
The updated features include an exciting new casual indoor/outdoor
dining space, a modernized, luxurious pool area, and major tennis facilities remodeling.
Nestled
amidst a palm tree hammock with sweeping covered terraces, the cornerstone of
the project will be a 5,200 square foot open-air bar and grill reminiscent of
old Florida. The casual tropical
elegance will extend from the outside dining area into a bright, open and airy
interior with vaulted, coffered ceilings punctuated with ceiling fans to
reflect the comfortable southern contemporary style. An above-bar feature wall
fitted with HDTVs will offer diners a perfect gathering spot for enjoying their
favorite sporting events, with a good view from any seat in the house.
Only
steps from the dining area, guests will find the 35-year-old pool transformed
into a luxurious, resort-style experience. The renovations will feature a 6,000
square foot freeform pool with a zero depth entry, a three-lane lap expanse for
exercise, and a well-appointed bathhouse with spa-quality amenities. Lush,
tropical landscaping will offer shade and create a beautiful backdrop for open
area events such as receptions and outdoor concerts.
Mariner Sands is renowned for its tennis courts and its tennis enthusiasts.
During this project, the existing tennis courts will undergo substantial
renovations to improve court layout to the highest professional standards. Two
new tennis courts and two new pickleball courts will be constructed, along with
an attractive tennis shop and covered outdoor seating at courtside.
The construction and renovation
team includes: Architect Brent Wood of Brent Wood Architecture; General
Contractor Jeff Hardin, CEO of Straticon; and The McMahon Group, Club
Consultants. The project will build on the casual elegance for which Mariner
Sands is renowned and will complement the ever-popular main clubhouse while
elevating the outdoor dining, pool, and tennis court areas to the high
standards established by the newly renovated fitness center and spa.
In keeping with the charitable
mindset of the community, Mariner Sands has arranged for items from the
existing pool deck and bar to be donated to Habitat for Humanity of Martin
County rather than being demolished and discarded.
“The renovation of the dining
area, pool and tennis courts is the third installment in our improvement plan,”
said Bill Ward, General Manager and COO of Mariner Sands Country Club. “Our
members are very excited about the updates and participated enthusiastically in
the planning process. Soon they will be
able to dine, swim and relax in their own community at a level of luxury and
comfort usually enjoyed at only the finest resorts. Adding these new lifestyle
amenities is also important for future home buyers, who will be drawn to the
extraordinary quality of life that Mariner Sands offers.”
During the construction, all of the
Mariner Sands amenities will continue to be available to residents and members
of this thriving community. A grand opening to celebrate the completion of the
project is planned for early 2018.
