The Blue Land Crab has a natural range from Bermuda, the Caribbean Sea, Texas and Southern Florida. Around Mariner Sands, these crabs occur in low-lying parts of coastal areas, but are rarely around more than 5 miles from the coast. They are easily identified by one claw that is larger than the others, by quite a bit. As a juvenile, the crab is a dark brown, purple or orange in color. As an adult, it is a bluish-gray color, though females may appear light gray or white.

After nearly being extirpated by the middle of the 19th century by plume hunters, Roseate Spoonbill’s are still vulnerable, though due to a different reason - development and climate change.

A Gem on the Treasure Coast

A stretch of sand along Florida’s east coast is known as the Treasure Coast, where tranquil sands and a rich history await. Mariner Sands Country Club is located along the Treasure Coast, a region of South Florida on the state’s Atlantic coast, comprising Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin counties. The region, whose name refers to the Spanish Treasure Fleet lost in a 1715 hurricane, emerged from residents’ desire to distinguish themselves from Miami and the Gold Coast region.
